Steph grew up in Champlin, MN and fell in love with running at a young age, racing her siblings in the backyard and running laps around the block. She competed in high school XC and Track setting the 1600m, 3200m and 4k school records.  She eventually crossed the border and ran for UW-Eau Claire XC and track, with a focus on the 1500m and 3000m steeplechase.

After her college career, Steph assistant coached XC at UWEC while starting to compete in road races before she finally discovered the trails. She has raced distances from 1 mile to 100 miles and still can’t pick a favorite distance. She enjoys the balance running brings to her life between raising a family and working in healthcare. While she enjoys running competitively, she found her true joy for running was in the experience of running, exploring the world and the running community. 

Steph believes that coaching goes beyond the training plan and finds joy in helping others create a strategy to achieve their individualized goals and works with them to overcome challenges. She recognizes that consistency is key, but to maintain consistency you also need flexibility to adapt to the unpredictability of life. Wherever an athlete is at in their running journey:  just starting out, building back after a time off, or taking their running to the next level, Steph can meet them where they are at to help them pursue their goals.

Steph currently lives near Eau Claire, WI with her husband Cole, two kids and two dogs. She is looking forward to more time on the trails and exploring beautiful places while chasing down some good times and fun goals.
